2024 5th International Conference on Geology, Mapping and Remote Sensing (ICGMRS 2024) Achieves Remarkable Success in Wuhan


2024 5th International Conference on Geology, Mapping and Remote Sensing (ICGMRS 2024) was successfully held in Wuhan. The conference was hosted by China University of Geosciences (CUG) (Wuhan), organized by the School of Geophysics and Geomatics at CUG (Wuhan). It was co-organized by Suzhou University of Science and Technology and Hubei University of Technology, with substantial support from Jiangsu Xsuperzone Co., Ltd.

ICGMRS 2024 convened over 150 scholars from across the globe, representing more than 40 universities, over 10 professional research institutes, and approximately 10 enterprises. Among the notable attendees were representatives from Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Queen's University Belfast in the UK, Tongji University, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Hunan University, Chang'an University, China Earthquake Administration, Aerospace Information Innovation Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Telecom Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping and more.



Comrade Fu Wang, member of the Party Committee and Vice Secretary of CUG (Wuhan), extended a heartfelt welcome to scholars from across the nation during the opening ceremony. In his address, he underscored the pivotal role of geology, surveying, and remote sensing technologies in various domains including resource exploration, environmental protection, disaster prevention and mitigation, urban planning, and beyond. He also highlighted CUG's esteemed position as a key national university directly administered by the Ministry of Education. As one of the pioneering institutions to establish a graduate school in the country, CUG has long been committed to personnel training and scientific research in geology, surveying, and remote sensing.


The main venue of the conference is chaired by Associate Professor Tao Chen and Professor Yi Wang from CUG (Wuhan), with 13 keynote presentations and multiple oral presentations covering the latest research findings and technological applications in geology, surveying, and remote sensing. The main venue of the conference has featured outstanding presentations by esteemed professors. Notably, Huan Xie from Tongji University, Qiangqiang Yuan from Wuhan University, Lina Zhuang from the Aerospace Information Innovation Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Yaoping Cui from Henan University garnered significant attention from experts and scholars alike through their exceptional keynote speeches.

ICGMRS 2024 has encompassed a diverse array of thematic sessions, addressing topics such as multi-source remote sensing information fusion processing and applications, remote sensing intelligent imaging and restoration, 6G ocean remote sensing information transmission technology and related applications, geological exploration, and geophysical monitoring. Each session featured presenters delving into research pertinent to the theme, offering attendees an enriching academic experience. Moreover, the conference recognized excellence by presenting awards to those who delivered outstanding papers and speeches.



At the end of the conference, the organizing committee extended its gratitude to all the experts and participants, expressing wishes for the continued success of future ICGMRS endeavors.
